Based upon this week’s meeting there are points which all members seemed to agree with.
1. Additional multi-family residential units are not desired.
2. It should not be the responsibility of neighbors to notify the city of buildings which are not being maintained. The city needs to approach the commission with this feedback.
3. Traffic, speeding and the lack of enforcement is a problem. The use of the activated cross walk signals may help but they may also pose a hazard. If drivers passing through East are not used to them there is a real danger of pedestrian accidents. Today I observed a car come within one foot of a mom and daughter crossing at Wealthy and Lovett. They were well within the crosswalk prior to the car turning. Not all people who drive through East are accustomed to the amount of pedestrian traffic we have.
4. I suggest the planner return to our neighborhood after work hours when the streets are lined with cars. Parking is already a problem and the addition of MFR or ADU will only compound it.
