Unquestionably, the property is an eyesore and has been for years. The proposed general direction is excellent with the exception of the proposed seven story building. It’s overkill and would beout of character.
As 45 year one-home residents of East, my wife, and I would like to remain in the community, ideally in a manageable townhome, apartment or condo. Ideally, my wife would have a flower garden and very few steps (like none!) to navigate.
Also, you need to define what “attainable housing” means. It sounds like a hoity-toity phony euphemism for “affordable housing;” something designed to get the cooperation of people who want EGR to expand his housing base to be more inclusive. That’s all well and good. And it’s the right thing to do. But don’t be so cloying; define it and explain what it means.
And my, would it ever be great to have an intimate listening room music venue. (See the late great Seven Steps Up in Spring Lake.)
