If you go to Europe, especially places in Spain, France, Italy, many of the towns and cities have plazas or piazzas where people can gather, eat outdoors, listen to a street musician and just enjoy meeting each other. I always thought that is what should have been done with the area where the fountain is. This would be a perfect place to have community events such as the social gatherings event during a Thursday of each month. A place where people meet always attracts businesses and further promotes the community vibe.
