The power and joy of a great walkable downtown

Part of the charm of EGR is the quaintness of Gaslight Village and the surrounding area including Reeds Lake. To make it even relevant for residents, and to encourage the sense of community so many people are seeking today, I suggest closing the roads to traffic eliminating traffic on all commercial streets (specifically Wealthy from Lovett to Lakeside) to create a truly walkable and enticing village.

It’s better for businesses because they will get more foot traffic; it’s less noise pollution; it’s less dangerous without cars; it fosters a sense of community; it allows more events to happen, and it puts EGR on the map as a forward-thinking, creative community in tune with our current world.

Even starting with one day a week, Sundays for example, is worth a try.
