Walkable, green mini-city

I would love to see additional shops & restaurants in the area, including a good coffee shop/bakery. Keep the overall walkability and improve bike-ability with dedicated bike lanes. Additional green space would be great – there’s no reason for the current fountain by the parking garage circle to be all concrete. Public restrooms and a playground near the lake would be nice. It also could be nice to make the downtown feel more connected to the lake… green spaces that flow from the downtown to the lake/ cafes or rooftop bars overlooking the lake. A small boutique hotel would be great as well. Keeping the area open to cars seems important (especially for people with limited mobility), but I wonder if having some side car-free “alleys” (outdoor dining/ pedestrian friendly) would be doable, with a European city vibe…something to think about. And finally, for any new construction, please prioritize quality/eco-friendly materials and aesthetically pleasing designs… buildings that will last for generations and stay with the unique character of the city.
