Keep our neighborhood a neighborhood

I am opposed to a large apartment complex on the vacant lot. It would be a huge increase in traffic volume and number of residents in our area resulting in increased traffic as well as an increase in the number of kids in our already crowded schools.
Traffic on lakeside is already busy, making it difficult to turn from Durant and Lansing Streets given the number of cars and the speed at which they travel down Lakeside. Installing a traffic circle at the lakeside intersection where a stop sign is currently would be dangerous for kids walking to school, especially those headed towards the middle school and high school early in the morning when lighting is poor.
I am also opposed to more commercial encroachment into our neighborhood as was recommended by the presenter at the recent city planning committee meeting. Business owners who do not live in the neighborhood do not care about the neighborhood like the residents do, some of them are openly hostile towards the residents, threatening to call the police on elementary school kids walking through their parking lot on the way to school and the employees of these businesses are frequently seen speeding down our streets.
